On December 7, 2017, the Veterans Memorial Medical Center officially marked the start of the festive season with the traditional lighting of its Christmas tree at the main lobby of the hospital.
The ceremonial tree lighting was led by VMMC Director Dr. Dominador M. Chiong Jr. along with Dr. Benjamin Lim, 2017 Anniversary and Christmas Committee Chairman and other top hospital official.
Making this yearly event more entertaining and exciting were the search for Ms. And Mr. Cosplay Santa Presentation and the Display of “Christmas Around the world” themed contest.
Prior to the event, the 2017 Christmas Committee divided the hospital employees and staff into six (6) groups. Each group was tasked to choose among themselves their respective entries in the Mr. and Ms. Cosplay talent search and Display of “Christmas Around the World” themed contest.
The event started early in the afternoon with the Cosplay Santa presentation. Wearing their colorful and uniquely Christmas inspired costumes and trying to outclass each other, the contestants showcased their creativity by creating real life counterpart to gaming characters through Cosplay.
Meanwhile during the Display of “Christmas Around the World’ themed contest, the artistic prowess and talent of the groups were pitted against each other. Each group was assigned to set up their respective displays at their designated areas in the main lobby. Each group also had to theme their creations according to their assigned geographical locations worldwide. All the entries will be lighted for evening display simultaneously with Christmas tree.
More than a hundred employees dressed in their red outfits gathered to bear witness to the yearly traditional tree lighting. After the switching of light, the main lobby was literally turned into a fairytale land with sprightly lights and beautiful display enthralling employees and visitors alike.
Cash and appliance prizes were raffled off during the event while food and refreshment were provided by the committee.
