VMMC conducts Medical Mission in Batangas
The Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in coordination with the Provincial Government of Batangas conducted a Medical, Surgical and Dental Mission at Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas on June 27, 2018.
The VHMCP Team is composed of 80 members, comprised mainly of doctors of different specializations (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery Ophthalmology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology and pediatrics), nurses, dentists, pharmacists, dietitians and medical social workers.
A total of 321 patients were treated and served during the mission with mostly medical cases attended; 10 patients availed of surgical consultation and minor OR; 34 patients underwent dental extraction; 12 cases of rehabilitation medicine treated; 4 OB cases seen; 8 pediatric consultation recorded and 3 ECG procedures performed. Likewise, (150) free eyeglasses and two (2) months maintenance medicines were given away to veterans and their dependents. Indigent patients were given one (1) week supply of medicines.
VMMC also issued 53 medical cards. List of requirements for application of VMMC medical cards were distributed to the attendees.
PVAO Field Service Extension Office of Lipa City extended their full support to the activity and helped in the information dissemination and coordination with the local government officials of Lipa and Batangas City.
Also present during the mission were Lt. Gen. Raul S. Urgellio, Executive Director of FILVETS and MGen Alfredo S. Cayton of the Veterans Affairs Management Division of PVAO.
The conduct of the Medical Mission is in line with the Civic Action and Out Reach Programs of VMMC and henceforth will become a regular monthly activity of the hospital. Similar medical missions will be conducted in Bustos, Bulacan on July 17, 2018 and in Calbayog, Samar in the second week of August.
